As part of Duke University’s continued leadership in environmental science, education, stewardship, and sustainability, the administration has pledged to eliminate or offset all campus greenhouse gas emissions over time. In support of this effort, the Nicholas Institute is exploring the potential role that offsets may play, as well as designing and developing local offset projects that seek to provide economic and social co-benefits for the Durham community and wider Southeast region. The initiative works both within Duke and with other institutions and partners, sharing best practices, and increasing awareness of and participation in climate stewardship.
