Directions to the Institute Offices

to get to the Durham, NC office:

The Nicholas Institute occupies three spaces on Duke University’s West Campus in Durham, NC, at 2101, 2111, and 2117 Campus Drive. Directions to these locations can be found below.

From the RDU Airport/Raleigh/East Carolina:

• Merge onto Durham Freeway NC-147 North via exit 279B to Durham/Downtown
• Take the US-70/Swift Ave exit to 9th St/Duke University East Campus
• Take a LEFT on Swift Ave
• Take a RIGHT onto Campus Drive (left side of street is called Myrtle, but they are the same)
• Go two blocks down and look for a white house on the corner of Anderson and Campus Drive
• The Nicholas Institute is comprised of this house and the two that follow on the same side of the street. Parking in the rear of each house is limited; park across the street if you have a Duke ID

From Chapel Hill:

• Head north on Franklin to get onto 15-501 towards Durham
• Take exit 105A onto 15-501 Business North toward downtown Durham
• Take a RIGHT at exit 107 onto Cameron Blvd/NC-751 to Duke University West Campus
• Take a LEFT at Duke University Rd (University Rd on street sign)
• Turn LEFT at Chapel Dr
• When arriving at the traffic circle, take the first exit onto Campus Dr
• The Nicholas Institute is comprised of the last three houses on the right side of the street before you reach the intersection with Anderson St. Parking in the rear of each house is limited; park across the street if you have a Duke ID

From Greensboro

• Take I-40 East to I-85 North
• Merge onto Durham Freeway NC-147 South via exit 172 toward Durham/Downtown/Research Triangle Park
• Take the Swift Ave exit toward 9th St/Duke University East Campus
• Take a LEFT on Swift Ave
• Take a RIGHT onto Campus Drive (left side of street is called Myrtle, but they are the same)

From Washington Duke Inn

• Depart WDI and take a RIGHT onto Cameron Blvd/NC-751
• Turn LEFT at Duke University Rd
• Turn LEFT at Chapel Rd
• At the traffic circle, take the first turn onto Campus Drive
• The Nicholas Institute is comprised of the last three houses on the right side of the street before you reach the intersection with Anderson St. Parking in the rear of each house is limited; park across the street if you have a Duke ID

to get to the Washington, DC office:

From Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA):

• Merge onto GW Pkwy N/George Washington Memorial Pkwy N via the George Washington Memorial Pkwy N ramp
• Take the I-395 N exit toward WASHINGTON (Crossing into DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA)
• Merge onto US-1 N
• Stay STRAIGHT to go onto 14TH ST NW
• Turn LEFT onto P ST NW

OR

• Take the Blue Line north (towards Largo Town Center)
• Exit at Farragut West Metro stop towards the 17th Street and I Street exit
• Turn LEFT on 17th ST NW and walk about 12 minutes (or take a cab) to P ST NW
• Turn RIGHT onto P ST NW

From Dulles International Airport:

• Head west on Dulles Airport Access Rd toward Saarinen Cir   
• Dulles Airport Access Road becomes Saarinen Cir
• Continue straight onto Saarinen Cir      
• Slight left to stay on Saarinen Cir toward Arrivals         
• Continue on Dulles Airport Access Rd for about 14 miles         
• Merge onto VA-267 E toward I-495/Exit 18-19/VA-123/Baltimore/Richmond
• Merge onto I-66 E      
• Continue on US-50 E              
• Turn right at 23rd St NW                     
• Make a U-turn
• At Washington Cir NW, take the third exit onto New Hampshire Ave NW                   
• Turn right at Dupont Cir NW               
• Turn right at P St NW

  From Union Station

• Head west on Massachusetts Ave NE  
• Take a sharp left at Columbus Cir NE  
• Continue on Massachusetts Ave NE    
• Turn right at N Capitol St NE  
• Take a slight right to stay on N Capitol St NE  
• Turn left at Rhode Island Ave NW       
• At Logan Cir NW, take the third exit onto P St NW

From Congress/Capitol Hill

• Head north on 1st St SE toward D St SE         
• Turn left at D St SE     
• Take the ramp onto I-395 N    
• Turn right at New York Ave NW        
• Turn left at Kirby St NW         
• Turn left at N St NW   
• Turn right at 12th St NW         
• Turn left at P St NW    
• At Logan Cir NW, take the fourth exit and stay on P St NW
