Lecture: The Electricity System Implications of Flexible CO2 Capture

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend this presentation by Stuart Cohen.

When Oct 28, 2011
from 09:00 am to 10:00 am

During his lecture, Cohen will describe two models created to optimize operation of flexible CO2 capture in response to electricity price, demand, and ancillary service requirements. The models utilize a unit commitment framework and are implemented as mixed-integer linear programs using GAMS software. Optimization methodology will be discussed along with results that compare several CO2 capture configurations across a range of plant performance specifications and electricity market conditions.

Cohen is a Ph.D. candidate in mechanical engineering at The University of Texas at Austin who is supported by an EPA Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Graduate Fellowship.
