This presentation will focus on the use of decision analysis to develop a valuation framework to value interventions that may help with conservation efforts in the Amazon. Beyond the specific context, the talk will touch on the challenges in the analysis, some of which involved dealing with differing value frames, discovering the decision frame, communicating a valuation model in the language of the decision community and adopting a value-of-information mindset when faced with sensitive decisions. In particular, the decision community found value in gaining clarity on the implications of each value position in order to decide which one they'd like to adopt, and also to converse with stakeholders who held one of the other modeled positions.
