from 08:00 am to 05:00 pm

In an era when many states are taking their disputes over surface and ground water to the courts, the UNC-CH/Duke Water Allocation Study Team invites you to hear a presentation on how two fast growing states that have previously battled in the courts used collaboration and negotiation to share the Potomac River.

Scott Kudlas, Director of the Office of Surface and Ground Water Supply Planning for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, will speak on "An Interstate Water Management Success: Virginia and Maryland Collaborate to Manage the Potomac River" at 9:30 am on Friday, October 23, 2009 in the multipurpose room of the Cox Building on West Institute Drive on the campus of Research Triangle Institute in Research Triangle Park (map). Kudlas will also discuss Virginia's ongoing water supply planning program.

The UNC-CH/Duke Water Allocation Study Team plans a series of presentations on water allocation issues in the coming months. Watch the water wiki at http://water.unc.edu.
