Pathway to Ocean Ecosystem-Based Management: Design Principles for Regional Ocean Governance in the United States
The Congressionally-created U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy and the privately-funded Pew Oceans Commission both recognized a need to reform U.S. ocean and coastal policy by shifting toward ecosystem-based management. The commissions recommended implementing an ecosystem-based approach through regional ocean governance.
