Tipping Point for Survival

Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions

Climate scientists are increasingly worried the planet may be close to one or more tipping points that, once triggered, could initiate abrupt and potentially irreversible impacts. As we approach the global climate summit this November in Glasgow, there is a glimmer of hope that a different, more optimistic tipping point could be looming, writes Elizabeth Losos, senior fellow at the Nicholas Institute, in an op-ed for the Houston Chronicle.

Losos writes about how two new pledges from very different sources—the Chinese government and Harvard University—exemplify recent movement from influential players and could be a catalyst to inspire a cascade of additional actions across the globe.
