About

New for the 2019–20 academic year, the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions is offering Policy Boot Camps to share our team's experience directly engaging with decision makers. For the fall semester, Duke University students will have the opportunity to learn more about environmental policy making institutions—what they are, how they work, and how to engage them.

In this session, Robert Bonnie, a Nicholas Institute executive in residence and former Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will discuss how federal departments and agencies are organized and operate. Topics will include:

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Forest Service
  • The U.S. Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Reclamation
  • Headquarters vs. regional offices vs. area offices vs. field offices

A reception with free pizza and drinks will immediately follow the session.
