Gennelle Wilson

Policy Assistant


Gennelle Wilson is a Policy Associate in the Climate & Energy Program. Gennelle’s work has focused on a range of state-level policy and economic matters, including energy poverty, energy efficiency, and electricity sector decarbonization.
Gennelle worked with the Nicholas Institute as she pursued her graduate studies, contributing to the NC Energy Efficiency Roadmap development process and providing research and strategic advising related to clean energy policies in North Carolina. Gennelle also previously worked with the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) where her research contributed to avoided cost hearings, a review of utility energy efficiency and demand-side management mechanisms, and examination of barriers to community solar in the southeast. In the summer of 2020, Gennelle was honored with a Fellowship from the Energy Transition Institute. In a previous life, Gennelle was a senior corporate strategist at RTI International where she cultivated skills in research, data analysis, strategic planning and implementation, c-suite advising, collaborative facilitation, and project management.
Gennelle holds a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) from Duke University and a Bachelor’s in International Studies from NC State University.
