Jeremy Ashton
Senior Public Relations Specialist
Jeremy Ashton joined Duke University’s Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability as a public relations specialist in January 2019. He manages communications, public relations activities, and branding to publicize and promote the institute.
Before coming to the Nicholas Institute, Ashton worked for more than a decade in a variety of communications roles for the South Florida Water Management District. The governmental agency manages and protects water resources in a 16-county region of Florida that includes the endangered Everglades ecosystem. His previous experience also includes stints as a newspaper reporter in North Carolina and Florida.
Ashton earned a master’s degree in mass communication through the Science and Medical Journalism Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry with a minor in journalism from North Carolina State University.
