Mackenzie Faber

As an undergraduate at Saint Michael’s College, Mackenzie Faber trained in sociology and humanities-focused environmental studies, which she translated into a career in food systems and sustainable agriculture. She studied sustainable food systems formally as a graduate student at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and her later work focused on developing curricula related to food systems and wellbeing economies as well as community engagement efforts for the EcoGather initiative. Hosted by Sterling College in Vermont, the project convened organizations in Bhutan, Colorado, India, and Puerto Rico to facilitate the global exchange of knowledge essential for truly sustainable agriculture and livelihoods.

Today, informed by her own experiences as a student and educator, she holds profound admiration for others committed to studying and shaping the planet’s changing climate. It is her empathy for and commitment to supporting fellow students, researchers, and educators that brought her to the Nicholas Institute. Originally from northern New Jersey, Faber is a firm believer in the restorative properties of a good bagel.
