Ryan McCord is a postdoctoral associate with the James E. Rogers Energy Access Project, studying energy and development. Her research examines how energy systems shape outcomes in low- and middle-income countries, with a focus on identifying which dimensions of electricity service (i.e., reliability, affordability, capacity, etc.) are most important for translating access into improvements in health and economic well-being in different settings. She also studies how electrification programs and policies are structured, implemented, and evaluated, with the goal of identifying approaches that maximize the benefits of improved electricity services. Prior to joining the institute, McCord received her Ph.D. from Duke in environmental policy with a concentration in economics and a B.A in public policy and global studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
