Researchers at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions are part of a flagship study convened by the Energy Modeling Forum (EMF) to explore the implications of carbon pricing options such as an emissions trading programs or carbon tax to meet long term climate policy goals in the U.S. One Nicholas Institute researcher, Brian Murray, is part of the study’s steering committee with colleagues from Stanford University, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Brookings Institution, and the Electric Power Research Institute, while another Nicholas Institute researcher, Martin Ross, is using the Institute’s DIEM energy-economic model to assess emissions, energy, and economic outcomes from a range of U.S. carbon policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Through the work, partners will assess the effects of these policies on emissions, energy prices, and macroeconomic performance.
