The United Nations Climate Action Summit kicks off Sept. 23. U.N. officials say new measures to speed up the transition to clean energy and green economies are among the initiatives to be unveiled during the event.

The Climate Action Summit is expected to be a forum to hold countries accountable for the international commitments they have made to cut greenhouse gas emissions as part of the Paris Agreement.

Jackson Ewing, a senior fellow at Duke University's Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, spoke to "The Beijing Hour" on China Radio International about the major issues to be addressed the summit.
