⚡️Watts up, Energy Nerds! ⚡️

The Nicholas School Energy Club is thrilled to announce that Emma Romack, Transmission Analytics Manager at EDF Renewables, will give an electrifying Basis Risk and Congestion Modeling presentation at the upcoming Energy and Environment Seminar on Tuesday, April 11th. Participants will gain an understanding of the factors contributing to these risks, along with effective forecasting techniques and mitigation strategies to manage them.

Basis risk and congestion are critical challenges for all stakeholders participating in the electric power markets, including developers, utilities, system operators, and financiers. Basis risk refers to the risk arising from discrepancies between the power price at the location where power is generated and the location where the power offtake occurs. Congestion occurs when there is insufficient transmission capacity to move electricity from one location to another, resulting in price differentials between those locations. Comprehending and navigating this complex topic is essential for deploying clean energy technology. This seminar will benefit students interested in various sectors, including finance, energy analytics, consulting, and development.

This seminar is an exceptional opportunity to power up your expertise to catalyze the clean energy transition. Join us at 5:15 pm on April 11th in Ahmadieh Family Auditorium (Gross Hall 107) for an engaging and informative session with Emma Romack at the Energy and Environment Seminar. All Duke students are welcome!
