This event is presented by the James E. Rogers Energy Access Project and Global Energy Access Network (GLEAN) at Duke University.

Andrea Johnson is the executive director at Green Empowerment, where she leverages her diverse experience to bring renewable energy and clean water infrastructure to rural communities across the globe. Johnson completed climate research during her undergraduate studies at Duke University and was a research fellow at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center before joining the Peace Corps. After almost four years living in coastal Ecuador, Johnson landed in Oregon where she began work in the energy sector. In 2023, Johnson was awarded Executive of the Year in Social Impact from the Portland Business Journal. She is also a cofounder of GlobalPDX and is the voice of their Speaking Change podcast showcasing Oregon’s global changemakers.
