Join The Graduate School for a series of conversations with alumni reflecting on the role that their Duke education played in their careers. On July 12, The Graduate School will feature Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. alumnus Adam Sharkawy, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Material Impact, a unique venture fund that focuses on investing in and building successful companies with novel products based on innovations in the underlying material technology. An executive leader with a diverse background across technologies, therapy spaces, and business environments, Dr. Sharkawy is also a member of the Board of Directors for Fusion Coolant, Soft Robotics, Inc. and an observing member of Amastan Technologies. His prior experiences include leading a number of innovative projects and initiatives as both an engineer and business leader. He holds a B.S. from the American University, Cairo, and an M.S. from Texas A&M as well as his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke.
Dr. Sharkawy will be joined in conversation by Dr. Joel Collier, Theodore Kennedy Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director of Graduate Studies for the Ph.D. program.
