James Salzman is Donald Bren Distinguished Professor of Environmental Law with joint appointments at the UCLA School of Law and the Bren School of the Environment at UC–Santa Barbara. In books and some 80 articles and book chapters, his broad-ranging scholarship has addressed topics spanning drinking water, trade and environment conflicts, policy instrument design, and legal and institutional issues in the creation of ecosystem services markets. A dedicated classroom teacher and colleague, Salzman taught at Duke Law and the Nicholas School from 2004-15 where he was twice selected Professor of the Year by Duke students.
