A historian by training, Dr. Tom Cinq-Mars investigates questions at the intersections of business, energy, and the environment in terms of change over time. He received his Ph.D. from Duke University with research focused on links between modern (Soviet) Russia’s oil industry and economic diversity within the former Soviet Bloc. A two-time Fulbright Scholar to Russia, Tom highlights the relevance of cross-cultural communication to energy decision-making as he teaches courses geared toward first-year students, including “The History of Energy,” “Energy & Society,” and “Energy, Environment, and Climate Change.”
