NESP Methods Brief Series

Mapped ecosystem services include wild pollination, recreational birding, access to open space for recreation, and water purification. These maps can be explored in a StoryMap, and downloadable datasets are available on ScienceBase.

The ecosystem service maps can be used individually to target areas for conservation or restoration of a particular service or combined to identify areas that can provide multiple benefits.  Map products also include the key metrics and underlying data used to identify priority areas, allowing users to adapt the prioritization to a more specific study area. A list of map products and guidance on their use is included in each methods brief.
