John Tynan, MEM, will speak on “From Forests to Faucets Through Clean Water Markets” at 4 pm on Wed, April 11 in A158 Levine Science Research Center @ Duke (www.parking.duke.edu). Tynan serves on the Greenville (SC) Water Utilities Commission and is Deputy Director of Upstate Forever. Tynan will discuss Greenville’s legacy of land conservation and water supply watershed protection and how Greenville’s model could be adopted by other water utilities and conservation partners. Greenville has acquired and protected the watersheds around its Table Rock and Poinsett (North Saluda) Reservoirs. Over 9800 acres around Table Rock and 19,200 acres around Poinsett are managed for conservation. Tynan will also discuss opportunities for working in the water industry. Tynan is a graduate of Furman University and holds a Masters of Environmental Management from Duke University.
