Why Wilmington’s Neighborhoods Aren’t Created Equally When It Comes to Handling the Heat

The risks from extreme heat in many cities, including Wilmington, aren’t distributed evenly or equitably, but much urban infrastructure isn’t designed to withstand the heat.

"We didn't build cities with this kind of heat in mind," Ashley Ward, senior policy associate at the Nicholas Institute, told the Wilmington Star-News. "And now we're paying for those poor urban planning decisions."
