Before Big Oil: A Political History of Britain's Fossil Transition, 1760-1850 External link

Join the Department of History for a talk with Professor Fredrik Albritton Jonsson (University of Chicago) on how canal infrastructure, the deep mine, and the iron industry specifically provided the material basis for Britain's fossil energy transition during the "Industrial Revolution" from the late eighteenth to the mid-nineteenth centuries.
