Michael Yoo supports the Energy and Climate Policy team at the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability. His research focuses on deep decarbonization, domestic energy policy, and renewable energy infrastructure. Prior to joining the institute, Yoo worked with local communities in Oregon to develop wildfire resilience strategies. He also has corporate research experience with companies such as Amazon and Starbucks. Yoo received his bachelor’s degree in environmental policy and urban planning from the Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon.
The Devil’s Fruit (book): A hard-hitting read revealing the untold stories of environmental justice and health inequity for migrant farmworkers working in California’s strawberry industry.
99% Invisible (podcast): A 45-minute punch that appeals to my nerdy obsession with good design. Dives deep into underreported topics, like the global sand shortage and urban gardens, that oftentimes hint at broader environmental issues.
