Wildlife Corridors: Preserving and Restoring Critical Habitat Linkages in the US-Mexico Borderlands
State/Territory:
Wildlife Corridors LLC purchased a 189-lot, high-density housing development to create a single conservation easement project. They preserved the wildlife corridors and managed the land use for restoration and recreation. These wildlife corridors serve as linkages to enhance genetic flow and biodiversity of wildlife species. Community outreach was conducted to engage local communities about the progress of the project. The project was supported by a combination of lot sales, grants, and philanthropic donations. They used the money to purchase the development rights on land in the corridor and fund the maintenance and improvement of the wildlife corridor.
