Join Nicholas Institute expert Ashley Ward and Moms Clean Air Force for a virtual community event on protecting kids from extreme heat in sports and play. The webinar will provide guidance on protecting children during extreme heat, including recognizing warning signs, understanding safety protocols for high school athletics and other organizations, and advocating for safer practices in your community. It will also explore how federal, state, and local policies shape youth safety standards—and how parents can push for stronger protections.
This is the first event in a three-part webinar series from Moms Clean Air Force titled "Extreme Heat Expert Answers Your Burning Questions."

Ashley Ward (director of the Heat Policy Innovation Hub at the Nicholas Institute) is program leader for a DukeEngage program, "Heat Mapping for Climate Adaptation and Resilience," set for June-July 2025 in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Duke students can attend an info session in person or virtually to learn more about the program and decide if they would like to apply.
