Exploration Green

State/Territory:

Clear Lake City, TX has a history of intense flooding from hurricanes and other storm events. Exploration Green is a project to transform a former 200-acre golf course into a public park and flood-control area. The park will have 5 detention basins to store floodwater during storm events. The project has a 15-year timeline and is broken into 5 phases. The park will provide not only flood management but recreation and environmental education opportunities, as well as improve ecosystem health. The project will have a storage capacity of 500 million gallons and provide flood protection to over 30,000 residents.
