West Grand Terre Beach Nourishment and Stabilization
State/Territory:
This project restored 295 acres of beach and dune habitat and created or restored 144 acres of intertidal marsh habitat in Jefferson Parish immediately northeast of Grand Isle, Louisiana. These restoration projects will protect 14,000 linear feet of shoreline along West Grand Terre Island from sea-level rise, erosion, wave action, and storm surges. These restoration projects included sediment placement, native vegetation plantings, sand fencing, and constructing shoreline protection structures, such as rock breakwaters. This project will also enhance recreational opportunities. The total authorized budget was $92,500,000.00.
