Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)
This storymap details progressive uses of biochar in Oregon sourced from animal manure and timber waste left after fuels management (thinning) projects.
The nine federal and state agencies located at NIFC provide fundamental support to on-the-ground wildland firefighting efforts. They also develop wildland fire policy and serve as the logistical, intelligence, and decision-support center for wildland fire and other all-hazard emergency incidents throughout the nation.
The National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) provides national leadership to enable interoperable wildland fire operations among federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial partners. They provide trainings, publications, and other resources that are useful for all facets of wildland fire operations.
Fire Administration (USFA)
This guidebook lists identifies major challenges with wildfire management in urban-wildland environments and suggested solutions for mitigating these hazards. While much of the document pertains to policy-level approaches, there is discussion of fuel reduction management priorities, community engagement guidance, and explanations of partnering opportunities for deploying these best practices that are useful for designing fire management, forest health management, and urban forest health management NBS.
